FIORI - THE SHARARA EDIT BY SEEMA GUJRAL
NOVEMBER 2023: The lilting beauty of the Italian language is so evident in the term ‘Fiori’, which means floral or decorated with flowers and that has been the inspiration for the Sharara edit by couturier Seema Gujral. A classic Sharara is essentially a lower worn with a kurta or choli, a traditional Indian pant with an impressive flare, that adds a captivating look to an ensemble. The idea with this particular edit was to make a versatile, all-season range of Shararas that takes a classic Sharara silhouette and elevates it into a modern trendy look. The cut and style has been manipulated in a way that a wholly traditional outfit transforms into something entirely contemporary without losing any of the charm. The beauty of this edit also lies in the choice of fabrics, colours and embroidery, all a Seema Gujral signature.
For this special, all-season edit, Gujral has experimented with off- shoulders, one shoulder and cape style shapes for the top to make ensembles that take a vintage look and make it new age. The tops are ultra glamorous with perfect cuts to complement the gorgeous flare of the Sharara bottoms. Even the colour palette is very exclusive, with contemporary shades of nudes to sunny yellows to blues to deep wine and Burgundy reds in thread work for the day. This edit moves fluidly between day and night with a change in colour palettes, for the evening the hues move from glamorous whites to silvers to golds to bold blacks.
The glamorous quotient in this edit remains as high as it is in the Seema Gujral range of festive lehengas. All the components and specifics remain the same with the same finesse and beauty. The effort here is to give the bride as well the bridesmaids and the bride’s family a wider selection to choose from, with a varied choice in shapes that are not as voluminous yet very trendy. The embroideries in this collection range from delicate thread work to mirror-work and the evergreen allure of gota patti with Seema Gujral staples of exquisite sequins and sparkling crystals.
